Overview Arabic In-Person Interpreter (IPI) – Arabic In-Person Interpreter role at Universal Language Service, Inc. Location: Onsite servicing King County Job Type: Independent Contractor Position Overview: The Arabic In-Person Interpreter is responsible for facilitating onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) clients and the practitioners that serve them in a variety of settings. This contract position is flexible and offers opportunities to expand your interpreting business with access to many sessions per day. Responsibilities Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions in a professional manner. Maintain professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness for sessions. Adapt quickly to new and changing situations. Adhere to interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements specific to interpreting context. Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in a diverse environment. Respect for and understanding of LEP clients, culture, dialect, beliefs and preferences. Strong aptitude and passion for customer service and interpreting. Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation and enunciation. Render exact concepts and meanings according to interpreter protocol. Qualifications Fluent in Arabic and English with strong verbal communication skills (Arabic to English and vice versa). Excellent listening and retention skills to maintain accuracy during interpretation. Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or national certification. Knowledge of code of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI and NCIHC). Must be at least 18 years of age. Preferred Qualifications Ability to read and write in the requested languages. Degree or certifications in interpreting practices. National Medical Interpreter Certification by CCHI, NBCMI or DSHS. Accredited medical interpreting training courses (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training; 40-hour accredited medical courses). #J-18808-Ljbffr Universal Language Service, Inc.
