About the Role:

As a highly skilled and experienced member of our maintenance team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and reliable operation of our fleet of vehicles. Your responsibilities will include:

• Preventative Maintenance & Repairs: Perform regular maintenance checks and repairs on a variety of diesel-powered vehicles, with a focus on buses.
• Diagnostics & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair complex mechanical systems, including engine, transmission, electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems.
• Vehicle Inspections: Conduct thorough vehicle inspections, including overseeing and participating in DOT inspections, to identify and address potential safety hazards.
• Mentorship & Leadership: Mentor junior mechanics, sharing your expertise and contributing to their professional development.
• Emergency Response: Coordinate and respond to emergency breakdowns, ensuring timely and effective service.
• Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities.
• Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety regulations, including OSHA, FMCSA, and DOT standards.
• Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with other members of the maintenance team.
• Maintain a Clean Work Environment: Contribute to a safe and organized workspace.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Bus Mechanic with a proven track record of success.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• In-depth knowledge of NYS DOT bus inspection procedures.
• Must be able to work at least Saturday and/or Sunday every week 
• Expert knowledge of electrical and pneumatic systems.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Valid CDL B license (preferred)
• ASE certifications, 608/609 certifications (preferred)
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) (preferred)
