Commercial Building Inspector

Location: Denver Metro Area
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $30–$45 per hour (depending on experience and certifications)
Schedule: Early construction hours, typically 6:00 AM–3:00 PM; overtime may be required during peak seasons

Overview

A growing engineering and inspection firm in the Denver area is looking to add an experienced Commercial Building Inspector to its team. This role involves performing field inspections for commercial and educational facility projects to verify compliance with applicable building codes and safety standards. The ideal candidate will hold an ICC B2 Commercial Building Inspector certification and/or Firestop Inspection certification , with a background in school or higher education construction projects.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site inspections of active commercial construction sites, focusing on code compliance and safety.
• Inspect educational facilities (K–12 and higher education) for adherence to building and fire codes.
• Perform firestop inspections and other special inspections as required by project specifications.
• Identify and document deficiencies, ensuring corrective actions are clearly communicated.
• Prepare professional and timely inspection reports and documentation for submittal.
• Collaborate with contractors, project managers, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) to resolve field issues.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of building codes and inspection best practices.

Qualifications

• ICC B2 Commercial Building Inspector certification – Required
• Firestop Inspection certification – Preferred
• At least 1 year of experience performing inspections on commercial or institutional construction projects; experience in educational facilities preferred.
• Additional ICC Special Inspection certifications (e.g., Reinforced Concrete, Structural Steel, Soils) a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
