Job Title: Manager of Contracts

Location: Hampton, VA

Employment Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire | Local Candidates Only

Salary Range: $100,000 – $120,000 (Depending on Experience)

About the Company:

A well-established company in the defense manufacturing industry is seeking a Manager of Contracts to lead their contract administration function and support strategic growth initiatives.

Position Overview:

The Manager of Contracts will report to the VP and CFO and lead a small, high-performing team. This individual will manage the full lifecycle of contracts, serving as the primary liaison between the company and its customers, overseeing a high volume of Department of Defense (DoD) and commercial contracts. The ideal candidate will bring extensive knowledge of FAR/DFARS, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a strategic mindset to support internal stakeholders and ensure contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead all contract functions including proposal preparation, negotiation, award administration, and record retention.
  • Mentor and develop a team of contract professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with FAR, DFARS, and internal policies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all contractual communications.
  • Maintain the document control and contract management system.
  • Support business development efforts with bid and proposal review.
  • Provide strategic risk assessment and advise stakeholders on contract matters.
  • Negotiate terms and agreements including NDAs, TAs, and OCIs.
  • Collaborate with operations and executive leadership to align contract terms with company objectives.
  • Track and ensure timely execution of contractual deliverables.
  • Continuously improve contract processes and develop standard templates.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in contract management, specifically within DoD contracting.
  • Strong working knowledge of FAR and DFARS.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM) or Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM).
  • Experience in a manufacturing or defense industry setting.
  • Familiarity with DoD bid and proposal processes.
  • Experience with JobBOSS or similar ERP systems.

Employment Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be a U.S. Person.
  • No felony convictions (theft/deception or violent crimes within 7 years; drug-related crimes within 3 years).
  • Must pass a background check and drug screen.
