Job Description
As a Dental Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting the dental team by providing chairside assistance to dentists, ensuring the smooth flow of daily operations, and contributing to the overall efficiency of the dental practice.
*Responsibilities:*
* Assist the dentist during various dental procedures, including but not limited to restorative work, extractions, and root canals.
* Prepare and maintain dental instruments, equipment, and materials.
* Welcome and prepare patients for treatment, addressing any concerns and ensuring their comfort.
* Sterilize and disinfect instruments according to established protocols.
* Take and process dental X-rays as directed by the dentist.
* Ensure proper radiation safety measures are followed.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including charting treatment plans and procedures performed.
* Document clinical notes and observations.
* Collaborate with the dental team in developing and implementing treatment plans.
* Provide patient education on post-operative care and oral hygiene instructions.
* Order, organize, and maintain dental supplies.
* Ensure proper functioning of dental equipment and report any issues to the appropriate personnel.
* When necessary, schedule appointments and manage patient records using dental software.
* Adhere to strict infection control protocols to maintain a clean and sterile environment.
* Follow OSHA and CDC guidelines for infection prevention.
* Work collaboratively with dentists, dental hygienists, and other team members to provide optimal patient care.
* Assist with training and onboarding of new staff members as needed.
*Qualifications:*
* Completion of a dental assisting program or equivalent experience.
* Current certification or licensure as a dental assistant, if required by the state.
* Proficient in chairside assisting and dental procedures.
* Knowledge of dental instruments and materials.
* Certification in dental radiography, per state regulations
* Competence in taking and processing dental X-rays.
* Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong organizational skills in managing supplies and equipment.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
* Ability to convey instructions clearly to patients.
* Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
* Willingness to adapt to the needs of the dental practice.
