Position performs duties related to patient care such as initiating and terminating dialysis treatments, performing phlebotomy, maintaining records and responding to needs of patients that are treated in the outpatient dialysis setting. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Arranges and maintains equipment and supplies for performance of dialysis and other procedures, including preparation of Dialysate solutions. Performs cannulation, initiates, monitors and discontinues dialysis treatment. Observes and monitors patient vital signs and significant dialysis treatment parameters; assesses patient signs and symptoms and provides treatment accordingly. Communicates pertinent patient information or changes in patient condition to the team leader; documents these results per unit's policies. Transports, weighs and assists patients to and from wheelchairs, stretchers and chairs. Maintains patient confidentiality per HIPAA guidelines and responds to patient concerns in a timely manner. Working Conditions: Requires extensive safety training. Exposure to blood-borne pathogens. High noise environment. Requires protective devices. Patient care setting. Direct patient care setting. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at desk or table. Typically standing or walking. Typically bending, crouching, stooping. Occasional lifting (25 lbs or less). Certifications: Basic Life Support - American Heart Association, Basic Life Support - American Red Cross, Certified Clinical Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) - Nephrology Nursing Certification Commission (NNCC), Certified Hemodialysis Practitioner/Technician (CHT) - Board of Nephrology Examiners Nursing Technology (BONENT). Work Experience: No specific work experience is required for this position. Skills: Healthcare Environments, Healthcare Facilities. Driver's License: A driver's license is not required for this position. Preferred Qualifications: Certifications: Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Certified Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT), Certified Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association (NHA), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Registered Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologists (AMT).
