We invite applicants for an upper elementary grade math and ELA teacher position (2nd ELA and math, 4th math, 4/5 ELA). You would have small classes (even a class of 2!) with ample planning time and breaks during the day as well as significant support from your coworkers and administration.

We are expanding into middle school starting in 26-27, and also welcome candidates for middle school teachers.

We are a small, progressive Jewish day school with a supportive, family-like staff and close relationships between the staff and families as well. We will provide training and on-boarding with our Instructional Coach. Additionally, you do not need to be Jewish to work here - in fact, most staff members are not. You do need to be supportive of our values.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is a plus.
• Engaging teaching presence, effective classroom management, and the use of hands-on learning strategies required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Modifies and administers school curriculum consistent with school goals and objectives.
• Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small-group instruction and to student learning.
• Develops lesson plans and instructional materials and translates lesson plans into learning experiences so as to best utilize the available time for instruction.
• Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual students' needs, including students with special needs; conducts individual and small group instruction as needed.
• Organizes and maintains accurate and complete records, grades and reports for all student activities, achievements, and attendance as required by school procedures.
• Encourages parental involvement in students' education and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
• Ensures that student conduct conforms with the school's standards and establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom.
• Coordinates with other staff members to evaluate and assess curriculum and instructional methods.
• Supervises students in activities that take place out of the classroom during the school day, such as lunch and recess.

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, and is able to differentiate instruction based upon student learning styles.
• Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
• Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed (namely Google Workspace).
• Ability to organize and coordinate work.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
• Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
