Note that if your university has specific requirements for internship programs, it is your responsibility to fulfill those requirements. Your work will enable efficient risk assessment on ECUs, sensors, and other components integral to the development of R2 and R3 vehicles through structural simulations to support mechanical design and development of low voltage electrical hardware components. Responsibilities Perform thermal management simulations on LVE electronics with a focus on enclosed electronics assemblies having both passive and active (air cooled/liquid cooled) thermal solutions. Apply know-how of heat-transfer and fluid mechanics to perform design risk assessments and provide risk mitigation solutions. Create pre/post processing scripts to increase simulation turnaround time and improve workflow efficiency. Develop thermal validation and testing plan; perform thermal validation experiments. Create simulation assessment reports and publish internal whitepapers/documentation. Qualifications Must be currently pursuing a master's or PhD degree at an accredited university. Actively pursuing a degree or one closely related in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Materials Science with a focus on thermal sciences/fluid mechanics. Relevant coursework in Heat Transfer, Fluid Mechanics, CFD, and Numerical Methods. Familiarity with turbulent flow models. Hands-on exposure to experimental heat-transfer: thermal conductivity measurements, attaching thermocouples for model validation, working with thermal interface materials and epoxies. Research in electronics cooling preferred. Python/Matlab scripting skills.
