Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Firewall Migration Engineer to lead and execute critical migration projects involving firewall technologies such as Checkpoint, Cisco ASA, and Fortinet.

This role requires strong hands-on expertise in firewall rule migration, NAT policy configuration, VPN setup, and implementation of security best practices.

The engineer will collaborate with security teams and network architects to ensure successful cutovers with minimal impact on business operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Execute firewall migrations including rule sets, NAT policies, VPN configurations, and security settings.
• Perform hardware upgrades, in-place upgrades, and vendor-to-vendor firewall transitions.
• Implement high availability (HA) and clustering configurations as needed.
• Conduct pre- and post-migration testing to validate configurations and ensure connectivity.
• Perform security assessments to ensure compliance with enterprise policies.
• Troubleshoot and resolve migration issues using log analysis, packet captures, and debugging tools.
• Create detailed documentation including migration runbooks, rollback plans, network diagrams, and configuration standards.
• Provide training and knowledge transfer to operational teams.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including network architects and security teams, as well as external vendors and service providers.
• Communicate project status, issues, and resolutions clearly to relevant teams.

• 8+ years of experience in firewall migrations and network security
• Hands-on experience with firewall platforms including Checkpoint, Cisco ASA/FTD, and Fortinet FortiGate
• Strong knowledge of firewall policies, NAT, VPN technologies (IPsec, SSL), and IDS/IPS systems
• Proficiency with CLI and GUI-based firewall management tools
• Solid understanding of routing protocols (BGP, OSPF), VLANs, and network security best practices
• Ability to analyze logs, perform packet captures, and debug connectivity issues during migrations

• Experience with additional firewall vendors (e.g., Palo Alto, Juniper SRX)
• Experience migrating firewalls across vendors or performing complex hardware/software upgrades
• Familiarity with rule base optimization techniques and log analysis tools
• Experience with automation and scripting tools (e.g., Python, Ansible) for firewall policy migration
• Knowledge of firewall orchestration and policy management platforms (e.g., FortiManager, Panorama)
