Job Summary: Community Smiles Dental (CSD) is seeking a mission-driven and team-oriented Grants Manager to join our team and focus on increasing agency impact and revenues by maintaining the full grant management cycle from pre- to post-grant award. This includes managing the full proposal and grant life cycle process, such as researching funding opportunities, competitive selection, solicitation, grant writing, award monitoring, post-award support to ensure compliance, and analyzing and reporting grant financial data. This role will also support the organization's don engagement by producing impactful written content, participating in development events, and contributing to the success of an upcoming capital campaign. Stewardship of foundation partners is a key component of this position. The Grants Manager will play an important role in our programmatic and financial sustainability and will be an integral member of our fund development team.
Major Responsibility Areas:
● Supports mission, vision and core values of Community Smiles Dental by emphasizing mission impact through compelling writing, programmatic outcomes, and donor stewardship to increase agency revenues.
● Collaborate with CSD’s Leadership team to build a highly inclusive culture where team members can thrive and represent CSD’s core values to the best of their ability.
● Maintains strong and positive working and interpersonal relationships with all employed at Community Smiles Dental including interns, externs and volunteers.
● Understands and is able to comply with all employment policies and procedures defined Community Smiles Dental.
● Performs duties and responsibilities under the following major responsibility areas:
○ Grants Management (writing, reporting, and contract compliance)
○ Foundation Partner Stewardship
○ Prospect Research
○ Capital Campaign
○ Development Communications
○ Management of United Way Partnership
○ Special Event Support
Grants Management:
● Manage all aspects of CSD’s grant portfolio, totaling roughly $1 million in annual revenue and including foundation, corporate, and government grants.
● Oversee acquisition of all budgeted grant revenue each fiscal year through successful grant proposals and impactful reporting.
● Effectively write and submit compelling grant proposals reflective of the need for CSD programs and its mission impact.
● Collaborate with the VP of Development and Communications to manage all grantor relationships, including but not limited to:
○ Helping foster positive, ongoing relationships with foundation and institutional partners through proactive stewardship, including sharing updates, success stories, and program outcomes.
○ Meeting all deadlines for submission and response.
○ Acknowledging awards promptly and transparently.
○ Ensuring compliance with all regulations and reporting requirements.
● Maintain an up-to-date and compelling statement of need that identifies the trends a access issues warranting CSD’s programs.
● Analyze and share the impact of secured grants, using data and program outcomes to demonstrate effectiveness and build credibility with funders.
● Collaborate with internal teams to ensure accurate data collection and reporting.
● Provide additional reports and public communications as requested.
Foundation Partner Stewardship:
● Build and nurture relationships with foundation partners, including timely follow-ups, regular updates, and sharing success stories.
● Ensure foundation partners feel engaged and valued, contributing to long-term donor retention.
Prospect Research:
● Research and identify strategic funding opportunities that align with CSD’s mission.
● Write prospect briefings for use by leadership and the Board of Director
● Monitor philanthropic trends and utilize this knowledge to enhance grant strategies and success.
Capital Campaign:
As CSD embarks on a capital campaign to support its growing organization, the Grants Manager will:
● Write and submit grant applications specifically focused on capital needs, ensuring alignment with funder priorities.
● Assist in identifying and cultivating capital funding opportunities from foundations, corporations, and other institutional sources.
● Collaborate with the development team to align capital campaign goals with grant strategies.
● Support tracking and reporting on capital campaign-related grants and funding commitments.
Development Communications:
This position includes additional writing tasks to support donor engagement and communication strategies:
● Write featured stories for newsletters, annual reports, website, social media, and e-blasts, highlighting CSD’s mission and programmatic success.
● Collaborate with the Development team to produce consistent, compelling written materials that showcase donor impact.
● Research and draft award and recognition nominations that highlight CSD’s achievements, leadership, and mission impact to elevate organizational visibility and credibility.
United Way:
● Manage all United Way partnership requirements, including but not limited to: ○ Grant writing, reporting, and compliance
○ Survey research
○ Logic model
○ Financial reporting
○ Volunteer engagement
○ Workplace campaign engagement
Event Support:
As a member of the Development team, the Grants Manager will participate in the planning and execution of two annual fundraising events as needed:
● Collaborate with the Development team to prepare donor acknowledgment materials and follow-up communications.
● Represent the Development team and the mission of CSD during events.

Minimum Requirements
● Completion of a Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit fundraising or management, strategy communications, marketing or similar field
● 2 or more years of experience in nonprofit fund development
● 2 or more years of experience in grant writing, reporting, and grant management.
● Strong written communication skills.
● Ability to work or use Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite for email, calendar, file create sharing and storage.
Preferred Requirements
● A proven track record of successful grant acquisition and grant management, resulting in organizational growth in contributed revenue.
● Prior experience in related, community-based or nonprofit fundraising and development
● Proficiency in Google Office Suite, DonorPerfect or comparable CRM system, Adobe, Constant Contact is preferred.

● Ability to occasionally lift and/or slide 10-20lbs at a time.
● Ability to work in close proximity with other team members..
● Ability to effectively respond to varying situations using logical reasoning and decision making throughout the clinic day.
● Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions to accomplish small motor skills.
