The purpose of the Hospital Operations Manager is to provide daily leadership to our hospital and partner with Hospital Veterinarian(s). The Hospital Operations Manager partners with our retail store partners to provide a smooth and profitable operation by creating a culture of high-quality patient care and exceptional customer service, as well as driving revenue and managing costs. The Hospital Operations Manager represents the mission and values of the hospital and Petco to all clients. Our partners are empowered to do what it takes to create an exceptional client and patient experience. The Hospital Operations Manager coordinates the overall operations of the hospital and cultivates a supportive and collaborative team environment by fostering cohesion and motivation within the team. Essential duties include leading hospital paraprofessionals to drive operational excellence, creating collaborative relationships with veterinarians, managing day-to-day functions such as scheduling, equipment maintenance, inventory control, invoicing, training, and handling client concerns. Oversees hiring, training, reviewing, counseling, and separation of paraprofessional partners in partnership with Area Operations Manager and HR. Responsible for scheduling, maintaining hospital partner points, creating doctor schedules, reviewing P&L reports, escalating issues, collaborating with Petco store teams, scheduling appointments, client education, maintaining records, and ensuring OSHA standards and cleanliness. Upholds all policies of Petco and Vetco Total Care. Additional duties include patient care prioritization, teamwork, collaboration with retail teams, front desk support, and special projects. The role reports to the Area Operations Manager and requires excellent planning, problem-solving, and leadership skills. Minimum requirements include 2-3 years veterinary practice experience or 2+ years strong leadership experience, excellent communication, decision-making, compassion, telephone etiquette, and basic computer skills. Desired qualifications include 3-5 years veterinary experience, P&L management, bachelor's degree or equivalent, management experience, reporting and data analysis, and veterinary assistant/technician experience. The work environment involves physical activity and direct contact with clients and pets. The position impacts hospital productivity, partner retention, patient well-being, and customer satisfaction.
