Seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist, Emergency Medical Technician, Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse, or Certified Hyperbaric Specialist to serve as a hyperbaric technician at Essentia Health's 32nd Avenue Building in Fargo, North Dakota. This RRT, EMT, LPN, or CHS works on a casual, as-needed basis, picking up shifts to support the department. Department hours are 7:30 am to 5:30 pm. There is an on-call rotation throughout the week and on holidays with three other technicians that is flexible in regard to any existing work schedules. A 40-hour course is required after hire and paid for by Hyperbaric Medicine.

What You'll Do:

Administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Provider. This position is responsible for the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems, as well as for the safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient. Administers the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy as prescribed to the patient; monitoring and controlling the performance of the hyperbaric chamber equipment, as well as monitoring the patient(s)’ responses during the session and making proper adjustments to ensure the patient’s safety and the safety and effective use of the equipment. Maintains open lines of communication with the patient, physician, co-workers, and wound center about changes in a patient's clinical condition. Maintaining a safe environment in the hyperbaric facility for patients and staff and using approved and recognized decompression procedures for all persons with a hyperbaric exposure to inert gases

Licensure/Certification Qualifications:

  • Current certification or license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Paramedic, Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), or Certified Hyperbaric Specialist (CHS).
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification within 1 month of hire.
  • Complete an approved hyperbaric medicine introductory training course within 6 months of hire.
