Catalent Pharma Solutions in San Diego is a premier pharmaceutical chemistry development and manufacturing organization supporting the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. We focus on bringing client drug compounds from discovery to the clinic with services that include analytical development, pre-formulation testing, formulation development, GMP manufacturing and stability storage and testing as well as Clinical Supply Services. Catalent Pharma Solutions is hiring a Lab Assistant (Intern) for multiple departments on our San Diego, CA team. Through guided mentorship, the Student Lab Intern program offers students a fun and stimulating environment to gain lab experience and exposure to pharmaceutical chemistry development. Lab Assistants will have the opportunity to learn analytical chemistry techniques such as volumetric analysis, spectroscopy, and liquid chromatography. This is a PART TIME, PAID, YEAR-ROUND student internship, requiring 15-20 hours per week on-site. Responsibilities include cleaning laboratory glassware, performing maintenance on designated laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, preparing buffers and laboratory reagents, documenting experiments, assisting in experiments under supervision, performing routine experiments without supervision, learning and complying with GMP practices, and other duties as assigned. Candidates must have a high school diploma/GED and be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in life sciences (Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Biology), with completion of Organic Chemistry coursework required. Prior chemistry lab experience is preferred. Candidates should be self-motivated, organized, and able to work as part of a team. Physical requirements include ability to walk, sit, stand, use hands, reach, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, smell, and lift up to 25 pounds. The position is on-site in San Diego, CA, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm.
