Licensing Associate – Fashion Industry

Job Summary:

The Licensing Associate will be responsible for helping to develop licensing strategies that align with our brand goals. This role involves identifying potential licensing opportunities, reviewing contracts, and managing relationships with licensors to ensure brand integrity and maximize revenue.

Role and Responsibilities:

Licensing Strategy Development:

  • Identify target customer and product categories for potential licensing opportunities.
  • Evaluate potential brands based on market reach, and company fit.
  • Possibility of attending licensor summits and trade shows.

Negotiation and Contract Compliance:

  • Help negotiate with potential licensors, focusing on royalty rates, minimum guarantees, and other performance metrics.
  • Periodically monitor compliance with contract terms, including sales projections, distributions etc.
  • Monitor all brand renewals.

Partnership Management:

  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential licensors.
  • Maintain relationships with licensing partners, serving as the primary contact for all licensing related inquiries.

Financial Analysis and Reporting:

  • Monitor sales performance of licensed products, providing reports and insights to senior management.
  • Help manage any disputes or issues that arise with licensors, collaborating with legal counsel as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Controller to ensure timely processing of royalty payments.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Marketing, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field.
  • 1+ years of experience in licensing, brand management, or a similar role within the fashion industry.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a proven track record of successful licensing agreements.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with legal aspects of licensing agreements.
  • Passion for fashion and a keen understanding of industry trends.

NY Pay Transparency:

The pay range for this position is ($80,000 - $100,000) annually based on skills and experience.
