Position Summary The Lift Maintenance Mechanic, Level 3 is proficient in all the duties of the Lift Maintenance Mechanic, Level 2 as well as being able to guide, direct, and train all Lift Maintenance personnel in most aspects of Lift Maintenance. The position also requires expertise in mechanical systems and principles, low voltage control system familiarity and troubleshooting, safe industrial work practices, aerial and surface lift specific maintenance procedures, and the ability to work with minimal to no supervision. They will be able to do most any task related to repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting an aerial or surface lift.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities - Be proficient in all the duties and responsibilities of all Lift Maintenance personnel
- Train and supervise all Lift Maintenance personnel in the performance of their duties and
- responsibilities
- Safely direct and complete the preparation of multiple lifts for operational use
- Train entry level Lift Maintenance personnel in the proper operation of all lifts using main drive and auxiliary drives
- Perform weekly and monthly lift inspections, advanced preventative maintenance tasks, and most mechanical repairs
- Troubleshoot advanced mechanical component discrepancies or failures
- Possess working knowledge of lift service and maintenance documentation, safety bulletins drawings and parts catalogues, and industry specific codes and requirements
- Prepare required documentation with maintenance related software
- Possess expertise of mechanical concepts and principles as related to hydraulics, lubrications, power transmission, and rotating machinery as well as electricity
- Possess expertise of industry related tasks such as rigging and lifting, general ropeway maintenance principles and procedures, and industrial safety
- Safely operate various over the snow and wheeled vehicles
- Possess a specialization in specific lift maintenance skills such as detachable grip maintenance, line machinery maintenance, drive machinery maintenance, control systems, etc.
- Possess peripheral lift maintenance skills such as welding and fabrication, general carpentry, machine or electrical design, machining, etc.
- Develop, implement, and supervise large scale lift maintenance projects
- Assist Lift Maintenance Supervisors with planning, scheduling, parts ordering, and required Lift Maintenance documentation
- Coordinate and oversee pre-operational and operational procedures and inspections
Secondary Function - Operate lift for passengers
- Provide courtesy transportation for guests as dictated by Ski Patrol
- Supervise Lift Maintenance personnel as needed
- Lead major projects and act as chief firefighter when a lift goes down
Job Scope - As outlined and defined by the Lift Maintenance Supervisor
- Supervise preoperational procedures within assigned zones
- Supervise basic preventative maintenance projects

Scheduling and assigning work: Within scope of assigned project.
Training: Daily operations and inspections; departmental safety procedures; preventative
maintenance procedures; general mechanical theories and applications; equipment specific procedures.

Hiring/Termination: None
Interpersonal Contacts Daily interaction with other Lift Mechanics, Lift Maintenance Assistants, Lift Operators, Lift Access, Ski Patrol, and guests. Occasional or varied interaction with Vehicle Mechanics, Parts Room Administrator, Grooming personnel and Facilities Maintenance personnel.
Specific Job Skills - License/Certifications: Oregon Driver's License; CPR Certification; 3 ILM Certificates from PNSAA or another Lift Maintenance Seminar (RMLA, LMS, etc.); A Certificate or Degree that has a relevant application to the field of Lift Maintenance (TBD by the Lift Maintenance Manager)
- Technical: Advanced mechanical theories; industrial safety proficiency; advanced troubleshooting principles; detachable lift theory and design; general electrical theory, design, and application
- Physical Capabilities: Climb ladders; climb on, over, and around structural elements; work with hand tools and power tools; perform necessary work functions while wearing a full body harness or other personal protective equipment; walk on uneven or irregular surfaces
- Additional: Communicate clearly and effectively using radio communications; hazard recognition; environmental training; basic first aid
Education/Related Experience - Minimum education required: High School Diploma and 18 years of age
- Minimum time in related position: 5 years verifiable experience as a Lift Mechanic or equivalent at another ski area or 5 years of verifiable experience as a Lift Mechanic at Mt. Bachelor and 3 years of experience as Lift Maintenance Mechanic, Level 2 at Mt. Bachelor.
