Microchip's Frequency & Time Systems (FTS) division is a global leader in precise timekeeping and synchronization technologies. We develop and deliver advanced timing solutions-including atomic clocks and time servers-that power mission-critical systems in telecom, aerospace & defense, wireless infrastructure, IT, and beyond.

We're currently seeking a hands-on and strategic Manager - Manufacturing Engineering to join our growing Boulder, CO team. If you're passionate about continuous improvement, team leadership, and high-reliability electronics, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

As the Manager - Manufacturing Engineering, you'll lead a high-performing team focused on developing and sustaining test and manufacturing processes. You'll drive operational excellence across the product lifecycle-from new product introduction through to full-scale production.

Requirements/Qualifications:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and mentor a team of engineers supporting manufacturing, test, and integration processes.
  • \n
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Quality, R&D, Planning, and Supply Chain to ensure seamless operations.
  • \n
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, and data-driven methodologies.
  • \n
  • Oversee test equipment validation, production workflows, and product lifecycle transitions.
  • \n
  • Ensure on-time delivery, quality compliance, and a safe, efficient manufacturing environment.
  • \n
  • Guide technical documentation, training programs, and standardized work procedures.
  • \n
  • Develop team goals and individual development plans; foster a strong, collaborative culture.

What You'll Bring

Required Qualifications:
    \n
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Manufacturing) and 12+ years of experience or equivalent education and experience in lieu of degree
  • \n
  • Proficiency in LabVIEW and Python
  • \n
  • Experience designing test hardware interfaces
  • \n
  • Proven leadership in process improvement, root cause analysis, and corrective action
  • \n
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing and testing of electromechanical systems
  • \n
  • Familiarity with ERP systems and managing BOMs, routings, and production costs
  • \n
  • Strong communication, project management, and team development skills
  • \n
\n

Preferred Experience:
    \n
  • IPC 610 Class 3 / J-STD-001 workmanship standards
  • \n
  • Soldering, SMT/thru-hole assembly, box build, cables, and rework
  • \n
  • RF, microwave, or timing system knowledge
  • \n
  • Experience introducing new products into manufacturing (NPI)
  • \n
  • Understanding of GD&T and general mechanical fabrication processes
  • \n

Physical Requirements

This role involves regular use of hands, extended computer use, standing, walking, and lifting up to 30 lbs. Vision requirements include close and color vision for reviewing detailed graphics and schematics.

Benefits of working at Microchip

The annual base salary range for this position, which could be performed in Colorado, is $90,000-$232,000.*

*Range is dependent on numerous factors including job location, skills and experience.
