JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for managing the care of the women and their infants during the labor and childbirth.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Provide support for the mother during labor, delivery, recovery, and post-partum.
Monitor the fetal heart rate, contractions and mother’s vital signs.
Administer medications and perform diagnostic tests including antenatal Non-Stress Testing.
Consult with physicians and other members of the care team to provide safe, up-to-date care.
Assist with inducing labor and augmenting labor.
Coach the mother and family during labor.
Identify and assist with complications and report them to the providers.
Assist with various procedures, including Cesarean Sections.
Monitor and perform tests on newborns in Level 1 Nursery.
Provide education and support to mothers and families before, during, and after the delivery.
Maintain records to the standard of WMMC and joint commission.
Mentor other members of the team or student nurses.
Maintain current fetal monitoring skills.
Maintain training in health stream.
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Perform other essential duties as assigned.

Shift Requirements:

7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Required to work every 3rd (third) weekend.
Requirements:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS REQUIRED:

High school diploma or equivalent.
Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing.
Currently licensed to practice as a professional registered nurse in the state of Missouri.
One-year previous Labor/Delivery and Postpartum experience required.
Current BLS required.
Current ACLS required or obtain within 6 months.
Current NRP required or obtain within 6 months.
Current Basic Fetal Monitor Course or obtain within 9 months.
This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: Babyhood, adolescence, early adulthood, and middle age.
Must be self-motivated and have the ability to work within the established policies, procedures and practices prescribed by the hospital/clinic.
