Overview Join to apply for the Records Manager III role at Axiom Consultants . Location: Washington, DC area with hybrid work (3 days on-site and 2 days remote every week). This is a federal Records and Information Management (RIM) role supporting the Federal Trade Commission. Responsibilities Organize, document and package records for shipment (pack boxes, prepare box inventories, arrange for shipment to offsite storage). Perform records retrieval and re-file services for records stored in off-site facilities. Coordinate delivery service of records and RM supplies to FTC Bureau Divisions and Offices in the D.C. area and FTC regions. Manage the records management services email box and telephone line, ensuring timely responses to staff requests (acknowledgement within 1 business day; final response within 5 business days). Receive, research information about, implement, respond to, and document litigation hold placements and lifts from agency staff for off-site storage records. Place orders for staff requests for records from and return records to off-site storage. Receive, respond to, and document FOIA requests for records in off-site storage. Research, respond to, and document staff research requests for information about records in off-site storage. Respond to and document staff requests to store paper documents in off-site storage by researching electronic records and providing inventory form corrections and denial of storage decisions. Create and manage various documentation and metrics to meet administrative service needs. Monitor, instruct staff, and report on coding of cases under or lifted from litigation hold status in investigation and litigation systems. Maintain records and information management SOPs for administrative activities, including research methods and tools used for researching and responding to litigation holds, FOIA, and research requests of off-site stored paper records. Job Duties Serve as a records and information management (RIM) subject matter expert on records scheduling processes, methods, and federal requirements for establishing and implementing agency records management programs. Conduct and manage agency inventories and records schedule development. Manage records disposition activities in accordance with federal requirements. Qualifications 5-7 years of experience with demonstrated knowledge and leadership in federal records management, specifically scheduling records in all media. In-depth knowledge of records appraisal and legal research for developing records schedules and disposition instructions that meet agency and NARA requirements. Technical capability to develop records schedules according to federal regulations and agency needs, with support through the agency and NARA. Ability to conduct and document business and work process analyses, records creation practices, and development of agency-specific schedules. Ability to research, document, and explain complex topics related to federal records management and information governance to non-experts. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong research skills. Excellent time management and project tracking skills. Ability to develop and manage records schedule creation and implementation tools. Ability to track the currency of existing records schedules and identify when updates are needed. Ability to develop and implement file plans. Ability to transfer permanent electronic records to the National Archives in line with NARA transfer requirements.
