Job Description

Are you a detail-oriented underwriter with a passion for residential loans and HECM products? We're looking for an experienced HECM Underwriter to join our team and help ensure loan accuracy, compliance, and a seamless customer experience. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with Loan Originators, Branch Managers, and Processors to review and approve loan documentation according to secondary market standards and regulatory guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review and assess loan applications and documentation for accuracy and completeness, following HECM guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Ensure timely initial decisions and follow-up reviews to meet department expectations.
- Collaborate with Quality Control, Compliance, and Funding teams to resolve issues, evaluate risks, and address compliance concerns.
- Stay up-to-date on HECM product guidelines, industry trends, and underwriting best practices.
- Evaluate borrower profiles, including income, tax returns, credit history, appraisals, and any relevant documentation to support well-informed loan decisions.
- Demonstrate expertise in manual underwriting policies, while maintaining a solid understanding of secondary market trends.
- Maintain positive communication with loan originators, processors, and management, fostering strong working relationships.
- Utilize MS Office and various underwriting and fraud detection tools to enhance loan review processes.

Qualifications:

- 3+ years of residential loan underwriting experience.
- DE certification and FHA underwriting experience are highly preferred.
- Strong understanding of FHA/HECM policies, procedures, and compliance standards.
- Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with strong relationship management skills.
- Experience in mortgage processing, repurchase response, or rebuttal preparation is a plus.
- Strong analytical, reporting, and critical thinking skills.

Work Environment:
This position is primarily remote. To succeed, you'll need a quiet workspace at home and reliable internet access.

Travel:
Occasional local travel may be required for career-related meetings or company events.
