The Department of Business Services at the University of Virginia (UVA) seeks applications for Sales Associate at the UVA Bookstore. The Sales Associate provides exemplary customer service in a fast-paced retail University Bookstore environment. Daily duties include receiving, pricing, stocking and merchandising store inventory. Candidate must enjoy interacting and assisting customers in both person and phone. Must be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision, work weekends and occasional nights in a 7 day a week retail store operation. Must stand on your feet for an 8-hour shift and lift boxes up to 45 pounds. Responsibilities: Assist customers with purchases, provide product knowledge and location, stock and receive merchandise. Basic computer skills are required. Cashier duties, as needed. Will assist in all areas of the store when needed. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Minimum Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent At least one year of experience. Preferred Qualifications: 1 - 3 years of retail experience Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Computer Skills Customer Service Skills. Motivated to Perform at a high level. Ability to work Independently while being a Team Player. Anticipated Hiring Range : $15.00 -$18.00 hourly, commensurate with experience. This is a non-exempt level position with benefits.
