School Nurse Aide

Department: District Staff

Reporting To: School Nurse

Compensation: $15.00 - $17.00 / hour

Description

Qualifications:

• Possess and provide evidence of High School Diploma or GED certification
• Certified Nurse Aide credential (CNA) preferred
• Valid CPR/First Aid Certification
• Past experience working with school-age youth
• Demonstrated ability to work well with students, families and staff
• Satisfactory completion of a background investigation, including a criminal background check

Position Description: Assist the School Nurse in providing health care, assessment of student's health status, identification of health problems that may affect educational achievement, development of health care plans, administration of medicines and health promotion as well as consultation to administration/staff pertaining to health care issues.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform basic clinical and non-clinical student care activities under supervision of the School Nurse
2. Assist students with tending to personal care and medication needs
3. Provide basic first aid
4. Report findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to nursing staff
5. Document necessary records
6. Keep school nurse's office clean, orderly, and maintain medical equipment
7. Follow all established district policies, procedures, and codes of conduct
8. Perform all other duties as assigned by the School Nurse, Principal, and Administration

Physical Requirements: Light Work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects; Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.


Terms of Employment: Part-time, 35 hours per week.

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated by the School Nurse in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
