Sterile Processing Technician

POSITION TYPE: Allied Health

SPECIALTY UNIT: Sterile Processing Technician

LOCATION:Ashtabula, Ohio

SHIFT: Days- Variable

JOB TYPE: Full-Time Permanent

Job Summary:

Incumbent will demonstrate skill in sterilization, instrumentation, anddecontamination procedures. This includes maintaining equipment and suppliesas well as maintaining a clean work area.

Responsibilities:

• Promotes improved quality and improved patient safety in the OR by ensuring the efficient flow of the Sterile Processing department.
• Performs routine tasks relating to the decontamination, processing, sterilization, and distribution of instruments, equipment and sterile supplies.
• Responsible for general operating and monitoring of sterilization equipment.
• Maintains records in compliance with AAMI, AORN, Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
• Maintains Certification, and monitors, instructs and mentors non-certified.
• Facilitates awareness and understanding around what is at stake with patients in the OR.
• Facilitates the department's preparation of staff to pass survey/regulatory assessments.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma/G.E.D. required.
• One year of experience working in Healthcare field, or completion of state certified program, required.
• Computer skills, required.
• Surgical Instrument Processor Certification, required .
• BLS and CBSPD (Ohio)
