Summary

Provides classroom instruction and supervision in the absence of the regular teacher, maintaining a safe and engaging learning environment for students. Carries out the educational mission of Williston Trinity Christian School (WTCS) by upholding Christian values and following lesson plans prepared by the regular teacher.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Implements lesson plans provided by the regular classroom teacher.
  • Maintains a safe, respectful, and productive classroom environment.
  • Supervises students in classrooms, hallways, lunchrooms, and during recess, as needed.
  • Provides clear instruction, answers student questions, and supports student learning.
  • Reports any issues, student concerns, or behavioral incidents to appropriate school personnel.
  • Follows school rules, policies, and procedures at all times.
  • Leaves a written summary of the day’s activities for the returning teacher.
  • Maintains confidentiality regarding student records and school matters.
  • Models Christian values and character to students and colleagues.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Spiritual:

  • Profess a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and have made Him both Savior and Lord as represented in Scripture (John 14:1-27; Ephesians 2:8-22) and faithfully participates in a Bible-believing congregation, attending regular services and engaging in fellowship with the body of Christ.
  • Accepts and upholds the Statement of Faith of WTCS.
  • Have a verifiable history of living and modeling Christian character in both personal and professional life, serving as a Christian role model first to family and friends and then to students, parents, and fellow faculty and staff members in regard to personal judgment, dignity, and Christian living. This is expressed in such passages as Ephesians 5:21-23; Colossians 3:12-17; and, 2 Peter 1:1-10.
  • Individual's life in Christ must continue to be faithfully pursued in and out of the workplace as a condition of continuing in this ministry leadership position.
  • Willing to submit to the authority of those who have oversight of the school (1 Peter 2:9-20), and to fully cooperate with these authorities and adhere to the policies adopted by the School Board in both letter and intent.
  • Strive, at all times, to understand, appreciate, love, and nurture the students entrusted to WTCS for instruction, supervision, and/or oversight, and must provide for their fullest spiritual, intellectual, physical, and emotional development.

Requirements:

Education and/or Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Prior classroom or childcare experience preferred.
  • College coursework or a degree in education or related field is a plus.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • ND Interim Substitution License.
  • ND Substitution License (or ability to obtain) preferred.
