Registered Nurse – Outpatient (Contract)

Facility: Mount Sinai Beth Israel – PACC Group

Location: 10 Union Square East, Suite 2M New York, NY 10003

Contract Type:

• Travel Contract
• Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Days per Week: 5
• On-Call Requirement: None
• Union Position: Yes (Bargaining Unit: 1199)

Compensation for 40 hours:

• Weekly Gross: $2,505.00 Per Week
• On W2(Taxable): $720.00 Per Week ($18/hour)
• Stipend (Non-Taxable): $1,785.00 Per Week

Position Overview:

The Clinical Nurse (RN) will provide direct, safe, and competent patient care in an ambulatory surgical outpatient setting, including pre- and post-surgical assessments, wound care, and general outpatient support. The RN is expected to uphold Mount Sinai’s tenets of Relationship Centered Care while supporting quality, safety, and patient satisfaction initiatives.

This contract is a backfill due to a Leave of Absence (LOA) related to worker’s compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver compassionate, evidence-based care through the nursing process.
• Perform patient assessments, evaluations, and pre-/post-surgical procedures including vital signs and wound care.
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary care team to manage patient care plans.
• Provide education to patients and families regarding procedures, discharge planning, and follow-up care.
• Document all care accurately and timely using Epic EMR.
• Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and their families.
• Ensure cultural competence and individualized care based on patient preferences.
• Conduct purposeful hourly rounding and participate in initiatives like admission welcome and medication review.
• Follow infection control, safety, and compliance standards at all times.
• Identify and escalate care gaps or safety concerns.
• Participate in quality improvement projects and institutional reviews.
• Monitor supply usage and report inventory shortages.
• Assist with patient throughput and contribute to unit flow and efficiency.
• Serve as a charge nurse when assigned.
• Demonstrate professional behavior and communication.
• Participate in shared governance, committees, or unit-based improvement initiatives.
• Stay current on clinical knowledge and certifications.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Valid NYS RN License (or LPN for equivalent positions) – Required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
• Minimum 2 years RN/LPN experience – Required
• Minimum 2 years ambulatory experience – Required
• Travel nursing experience (1 year preferred)
• Epic EMR experience – Highly preferred
• Excellent communication and critical thinking skills

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• Associate Degree in Nursing accepted with relevant experience or active enrollment in BSN program

Work Environment:

• Outpatient surgical care setting
• Office-based surgery with routine assessments, wound care, and patient monitoring
• No weekend or on-call requirements
