Job Description

The Pathologists’ Assistant is responsible for:

• Preparing, gross describing, and dissecting surgical pathology specimens .
• Performing postmortem examinations under the medical direction of pathologists.
• Supporting the hospital and laboratory missions, goals, and objectives .

Key Responsibilities & Requirements

• Must demonstrate independent judgment in scheduling and organizing workload.
• Responsible for specimen collection and accurate labeling .
• Adaptability to emergency situations, including working additional hours/shifts as needed.
• Must be proficient in HIS, LIS, and assorted laboratory instrumentation .
• (PA)ASCP certification required (Equivalent certifications are not accepted ).

Submission & Compliance Requirements

• Experience:
  • Minimum 2 years of Pathology Assistant experience.
  • Competency in performing frozen sections, grossing biopsies, and large complex specimens required.
  • Master’s degree preferred but will consider candidates with a Bachelor’s degree .
• EMR: EPIC Beaker experience strongly preferred .
• Travel Requirement: Candidates must have their own vehicle (strict requirement).
• Medical & Occupational Health Compliance:
  • All compliance items must be collected and finalized within 5 days of offer acceptance.
  • Proofs must be uploaded to Trio .
• Requested Time Off (RTO) Policy:
  • RTO must be submitted at the time of profile upload .

  • No more than 5 days of RTO will be accepted.

     

Certification Requirements

• ASCP (Pathologists’ Assistant certification required)
• BLS (AHA)
