Job Description
The Pathologists’ Assistant is responsible for:
- Preparing, gross describing, and dissecting surgical pathology specimens .
- Performing postmortem examinations under the medical direction of pathologists.
- Supporting the hospital and laboratory missions, goals, and objectives .
Key Responsibilities & Requirements
- Must demonstrate independent judgment in scheduling and organizing workload.
- Responsible for specimen collection and accurate labeling .
- Adaptability to emergency situations, including working additional hours/shifts as needed.
- Must be proficient in HIS, LIS, and assorted laboratory instrumentation .
- (PA)ASCP certification required (Equivalent certifications are not accepted ).
Submission & Compliance Requirements
- Experience:
- Minimum 2 years of Pathology Assistant experience.
- Competency in performing frozen sections, grossing biopsies, and large complex specimens required.
- Master’s degree preferred but will consider candidates with a Bachelor’s degree .
- EMR: EPIC Beaker experience strongly preferred .
- Travel Requirement: Candidates must have their own vehicle (strict requirement).
- Medical & Occupational Health Compliance:
- All compliance items must be collected and finalized within 5 days of offer acceptance.
- Proofs must be uploaded to Trio .
- Requested Time Off (RTO) Policy:
Certification Requirements
- ASCP (Pathologists’ Assistant certification required)
- BLS (AHA)
