Job Description
*Job Summary:*
The Triage RN’s work through tasks within the Triage filter according to urgency/priority. The Triage Nurse will take calls from patients, return calls, schedule patients that need to be seen the same day or any simple appointments, and will review orders on Orders Tracking. The Triage Nurse is also available for special requests from the Providers and for helping the CMAs with tasks, filling prescriptions, and informing patients of results as needed. The Triage Nurse will also set up controlled substance contracts as per Provider orders, schedule pre-op appointments and ensure appropriate records are sent to specialist offices when needed.
*Duties and Responsibilities:*
· Triage emergent problems requiring immediate attention. Mark high priority tasks.
· Call, assess and give advice or schedule appropriately. All triage tasks to be addressed with documentation of action by the end of each working day.
· Process requests for records to specialist's office, schedule pre-op appointments.
· Facilitate contracts for controlled substances and processes requests for written refills of medications that are on the contract.
· Review Orders Tracking.
· At any time, the Triage Nurse may be asked by one of the providers on her team to assist with calling a patient or arranging a special procedure. The Triage Nurse may also be asked to help with the medical rationale for completing prior authorization forms that the CMA's have begun.
· The first Triage Nurse of the day is to check, record and document refrigerator and freezer temperatures.
· Occasional clinic-based patient facing care; including emergencies, venipuncture, IVs, wound care, catheter care, pro-times, vaccine administration, suture remove, port flushes, etc. at provider request or on Saturday for nursing appointments.
Job Requirements:
*Education/License Requirements:*
· High school diploma or GED is required.
· Current RN license in the state of Oregon
*Experience:*
· At least 2 years of experience working in a fast-paced acute hospital or clinic environment as a Nurse.
· Excellent patient communication, documentation, teaching, leadership, and teamwork skills.
· Knowledge of complex chronic conditions. Self-directed, efficient, organized, and autonomous.
· Ability to problem solve, think critically, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
*Skills:*
· Requires excellent customer service skills.
· Requires strong attention to detail.
· Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills.
· Requires competency in language, grammar, and spelling.
· Requires proficiency in general office automation including operation of fax machines, copy machines, adding machines, postage machines, and multi-line phone systems.
· Requires proficiency in working with a PC, the Internet, MS Windows and Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

*Physical/Mental demands:*
· Combination of sitting, standing, bending, light lifting and walking.
· Requires a full range of body motion including manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
· Requires corrected vision and hearing to a normal range.
· Requires the ability to manage stressful situations.
· Occasional stress from varying demands
*Other Requirements:*
· HIPAA compliance is mandatory.
· Medical terminology is helpful.
· Support the clinic's philosophy, goals, policies, and procedures.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35.00 - $43.00 per hour
Expected hours: 36 – 40 per week
