GLA Water Consultants, Inc., a family-owned industrial water treatment service company located in Pittsburgh, PA, is currently looking to hire a full time Service Technician to provide services to HVAC clients who have water based systems . Water treatment describes those processes used to make water more acceptable for a desired end-use. These can include use as drinking water, industrial processes, HVAC cooling or heating, and waste processing. Water treatment can include chemical, mechanical, or physical processes. Water treatment can be done to either remove or stabilize contaminants in the water so it can be utilized fully and thus provide a cost savings to the processor or end user. As a Service Technician you will provide service to maintain each of the aforementioned systems in environmentally responsible and sustainable ways.

Description

As a Water Treatment Service Technician at GLA Water Consultants, your primary duty will be to service GLA’s existing accounts’ HVAC/water systems. This is an entry level position and appropriate hands-on training will be provided. Job requirements involve:

• handling of chemicals and water treatment equipment during customer service visits in a safe and environmentally responsible way;
• chemical and equipment installations;
• on-site inventory management
• running appropriate tests on water systems to assure proper chemical levels;
• identification and diagnosis of water-related problems in customer’s equipment via chemical, equipment or service solutions.
• filling out service reports for each account with respective test results and sending to clients in a timely manner;
• discussing findings of service visit with clients;
• know, understand and implement safety practices (familiarization with SDS’, OSHA, PPE and other practices – documentation provided to employees for reference);
• Same day travel in and around the Tri-State area.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in chemistry, biology, environmental science/engineering, or chemical engineering preferred but not required;
• Previous experience in Facility Operations or HVAC/Water Treatment experience a plus, but not required;
• Must have good communication and writing skills, experience working on teams is helpful;
• Must have good customer rapport and service skills;
• Have a mechanical aptitude;
• Have basic mathematical and calculation skills;
• Must be motivated and a self-starter;
• Must possess good physical ability:
• The job requires frequent walking and standing on-site at customer locations;
• The job requires handling and transportation of chemical containers and equipment, weighing at least 50lbs;
• The job sometimes requires climbing and descending stairs and ladders;
• Must possess a valid drivers license and acceptable driving record;
• Must be able to pass a background check;
• Must be able to wear protective gear (provided by employer) for the face, ears, hands and feet.
