- Lay out seatbelts before arriving at child's bus stop
- Must prepare vehicle for any special need the student may have
- Must be in good physical condition
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Assist children getting in and out of bus; assist (lift) child getting into seat, and secure child with seatbelt
- Must be familiar with emergency evacuation procedure and assist driver in the event of an emergency evacuation
- Must be able to assist the driver if it is necessary to back up the bus
- Must be patient and able to interact with special needs students
- Must have prior experience as a bus assistant
