Your responsibilities

  • The ABB R&D Early Career Program is a two-year rotational program that is designed to develop technical problem-solving skills through advanced courses in engineering & technical projects that are aligned with business objectives as well as develop your skills and grow you as a future leader of ABB. Participants can expect to gain an array of challenging and meaningful work experiences in their rotations across ABB Electrification in the US
  • The mission statement of the R&D Early Career Program is attract, develop, advance, and retain the future technical, project, and people leaders of ABB
  • The R&D Early Career Program is designed for engineers who have a passion for technology and are looking to launch an exciting career in technology and engineering
  • ABB R&D Early Career Program participants start their careers with their peers, as a cohort. Each cohort starts annually in June and joins with a comprehensive orientation that helps assimilate you into the ABB culture smoothly
  • After orientation, you will join your first of four rotations within the Electrification business area of ABB. Every rotation is composed of impactful work to help build your skills and gain business knowledge, while contributing to your team
  • Our program also supports your professional growth outside of your rotation, through global professional development, networking, and social activities. These events will be facilitated by your dedicated program manager that will coach you throughout your journey
  • During the program you will be taking specifically curated classes to help you gain expertise and depth within the engineering field in ABB. There are 4 classes in total, equaling over 150 hours of highly specialized training. Two of these classes are accredited at serval top engineering schools where you will receive credit for these classes on your transcript at no cost to you
  • During the program you will be complete a capstone project that provides solutions to real business challenges within ABB. In addition to the capstone project, you will be provided with multiple opportunities to showcase your own ideas in front of top R&D leaders
  • The ABB R&D Early Career Program is a program that reaches across all of ABB Electrification business lines, encompassing locations across the globe with the largest share of participants rotating across the US
  • Rotations are designed to develop technical, project, program, and people leaders. Rotations can include roles in, continuous improvement, research & development, new product development, manufacturing support, field engineering and more
  • Discovery Participants will rotate through multiple ABB locations in roles that will prepare them to be technical, project, program, and people leaders. These locations include but are not limited to:
  • Bloomfield, CT
  • Mebane, NC
  • Raleigh, NC
  • Pinetops, NC
  • Richmond, VA
  • Plano, TX
  • Memphis, TN
  • Hackettstown, NJ
  • Specific job responsibilities will vary among program and rotation placement, but all participants should expect to
  • Learn about themselves and ABB’s global business
  • Engage with ABB leaders including rotation managers and mentors who will help them develop their technical and leadership skills
  • Aspire to achieve their career goals at ABB by participating in professional development opportunities including webinars and immersions
  • Deliver on business results by completing challenging and meaningful assignments in a supportive environment

Your background

  • Currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or accelerated master’s degree program and graduating between December 2022 and June 2023
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Preferred relevant past internships or Co-Ops
  • Excited to explore living/working in different parts of the US, relocating for each rotation is possible. Relocation assistance is provided
  • Desire to learn and grow from a diverse set of experiences and people
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have valid US work authorization and must not require sponsorship for an employment visa by ABB at any time in the future
