The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the Accounting Department while maintaining strategic operational internal control processes. This incumbent will be a great communicator and will interact with all employees of the company as well as customers, vendors and suppliers to successfully complete the functions of this position.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting (or related accounting/office experience) required.
• Six years or more of related experience required.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Advanced technological aptitude, high-level competency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel. Ability to learn new software programs in a timely and effective manner.
• Organized with the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented and prioritize workload.
• Ability to work on-site Monday through Friday with some flexibility with daily hours.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Demonstrate commitment to handling confidential information discretely.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment to safeguard assets, improve profitability and manage business risk.
• Demonstrate ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with employees, supervisors, suppliers, vendors and customers, and collaborate to complete and continually develop strategic and efficient processes.
• Learn the third-party operating software and become a resource to other staff members.
• Complete various daily tasks including cash reconciliation and daily closing process, internal cash flow monitoring and related cash flow recording activities.
• Provide assistance with cash management tools and monitoring product cost and freight changes and communicating those changes to the pricing staff.
• Provide support as needed to Pricing Coordinator and assist Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable employees with questions and issues that arise.
• Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable balances and follow up on any delinquent balances.
• Assist with and review invoicing activity to suppliers and wholesale customers.
• Review and provide the final approval for vendor and supplier payments. Record supplier and vendor ACH payments in the payables system.
• Complete monthly inventory reconciliation and assist with the resolution of discrepancies.
• Prepare and record various general ledger journal entries.
• Assist with the monthly general ledger reconciliation, review and closing process.
• Manage the tracking of supplier-mandated expenses.
• Assist with audit requests from suppliers.
• Oversee the process of capturing of product costs in the inventory system.
• Prepare reports for management in a timely and accurate manner.
• Administer company fuel card program, including preparation of monthly reports.
• Serve as administrator and primary support contact for electronic payment and receipt vendors.
• Supervise and manage office staff, including the preparation and presentation of annual reviews.
• Serve as back-up for payroll processing.
• Serve as back-up for office staff when necessary.
• Support the Company Handbook, Safety Policy and Vision Statement.
• Other duties and projects as assigned.
