Renaissance Baton Rouge is currently searching for an Accounting Manager.

The Accounting Manager is responsible for directing the activities of the credit, billing, and collection efforts of the hotel; and properly reviewing the timely processing and communication of all guest billing and the collection thereof. The Accounting Manager establishes methods of payment for upcoming groups/functions and collects payment after groups/functions have departed.

Essential: (partial list)

  • Maintain responsibility for the daily Accounts Receivable credit, billing, and collection process in accordance with Expotel Hospitality Service policies and procedures.

  • Monitor payment requirements on groups or functions.
  • Analyze and maintain all vendor communication and correspondence including, but not limited to reviewing and processing invoices and disbursements, preparing various reports, monitoring critical payments, verifying vendor statements etc.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance of Expotel Hospitality Service approval levels, expense reporting procedures, employee relocation disbursements, expense dictionary usage, and other policies and procedures as required.
  • Maintain purchase order systems, which include a listing of open PO's for goods received but not invoiced, filing, notification of PO discrepancies, etc.
  • Reconciliation of food and beverage purchases.
  • Reconciliation of receiving logs with the appropriate personnel on a weekly basis.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable state tax regulations.
  • Be aware of rebate and payment program requirements to ensure compliance.
  • Keep supervisor informed of any unusual events and/or deviations from policies and procedures.
  • Assist the sales effort in establishing customer credit in accordance with Expotel Hospitality Service policies and procedures, to include but not limited to, the application process, reference checks, credit limits, direct billing listing, deposit requirements, and other credit related activities.
  • Provide customers with accurate and timely invoices, statements and schedules.
  • Respond effectively to customer inquiries in a timely fashion. Communicate all issues and/or disputes to operating departments and supervisor.
  • Maintain an efficient collection process to include an organized filing and tracing systems, issue demand letters, monitor return checks and charge-backs, perform collection calls and prepare bad debt write-offs.
  • Ensure proper internal control by monitoring the guest ledger, advance deposit ledger and any other related subsidiary ledgers.


  • lmplement credit training in operating department to include proper credit cards, cash, and check acceptance, limits and approval for direct bill listing.
  • Monitor and prepare financial reports in accordance with Expotel Hospitality Service requirements meeting various due dates; i.e., month end aging reports, weekly aging transmission to the Corporate Office, etc.
  • Attend and contribute to periodic meetings (pre-convention, credit, etc.) to maintain favorable working relationships between employees to improve morale, productivity and efficiency.
  • Review credit requests and pull credit reports for upcoming groups or functions.
  • Approve or decline credit requests in accordance with Expotel Hospitality Service policies and procedures.
  • Make collection call on each appropriate outstanding accounts and maintain collection files on each outstanding issue.
  • Maintain basic understanding of applicable federal, state, and local credit regulations affecting credit and collection procedures.
  • Handle customer complaints that are credit related.

  • Review Banquet and Catering weekly events listing and assign credit status as appropriate.
  • Complete month-end credit reports in accordance with Accounting policies and procedures.

  • Process returned checks and credit card charge-backs.
