DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Support Senior Accounting Staff – this includes data entry, preparing journal entries
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Prepare property tax returns
  • Prepare Form 990 for not-for-profit
  • Assist in finding more efficient ways to improve manual processes
  • Assist in preparing financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis in different formats required by company management, the state insurance department, and various regulatory agencies
  • Prepare GID reports and statistical filings as required by the Insurance Department and various agencies

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS

To reconcile general ledger accounts on a timely basis. Maintain fixed asset system, which includes calculating the monthly depreciation expense. Prepare monthly sales and use tax reconciliation. Knowledge of Form 990 preparation, preferred. Any additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

The educational requirement is a Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Knowledge of principles, practices of accounting, technical aspects of account analysis, working knowledge of spreadsheet programs, various data processing applications for accounting. Must be able to read, analyze and interpret procedures, regulations, instructions, manuals and other documents as required. Excellent telephone, public relations and oral/written communication skills are required. Must be able to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or schedule form. Must possess basic skills with personal computer; experience with Windows, word processing and internet. 0-3 years of experience.

Specific vision requirements by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
