Job Definition and Purpose

This position is responsible for providing a resident-centered activity program that offers opportunities for all residents to participate in meaningful activities, both within the community and in the community at large. Responsible for following the Washington State Administrative code for Boarding Homes.

Good communication skills with a strong commitment to making the organization the best possible place to live and work, are essential. The Activities Director must be able to gain and keep the trust and confidence of residents, and staff.

The Activities Director is responsible for following company policies, communicating the policies and procedures to the residents, and supervised staff. Responsible to see that residents are assessed, and that programs and activities are provided that meets the assessed needs of the residents. Trustworthiness, honesty and respect for team members, residents and management are requirements in this position, confidentiality of information pertaining to the residents care must be consistently maintained.

This position works cooperatively with other departments to promote resident's well being, and to demonstrate concern for and commitment to , safety, physical and emotional health of the residents and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

· Respect Resident's Rights at all times and is considerate of resident's privacy. Maintains confidentiality of resident personal information.

· Responsible to create, design, and implement activities (including large group, small group, one-on-one, and resident-initiated activities) and programs to stimulate, entertain and encourage the socialization of the residents, which includes but is not limited to religious, educational, and recreational programs. Will provide emotional support to residents and families.

· Is involved in interviewing new residents, and completing a resident activity assessment profile, then use this information to direct programming.

· Assists in organizing the Resident Council, as requested by the Resident Council President.

· Able to drive company vehicles safely during the course of work hours for needs of the community. Assists with the maintenance of the vehicle and safety inspections.

· Works cooperatively and maintains a courteous and professional relationship with Administrator, other team members, residents, families and visitors. cheerful and caring attitude towards residents.

· Recruits and supervises volunteer program.

· Able to walk, stand, stoop, bend and lift repetitively up to 25 pounds throughout a normal day.

· Is familiar with English composition , spelling, grammar and punctuation.

· Is able to work under pressure and with interruptions.

· Has the ability to carry out detailed written or verbal instruction independently.

· Must be able to communicate effectively and represent community in a positive image.

· Must be able to work weekends, and evenings if needed, and be flexible with activity programming.

· Cooperates with supervisor and team members to continually improve the quality of services provided to the community. Responsible for compliance with policies and procedures, and State and County Health officials in the inspection process. Is cooperative with the state Ombudsman program.

· Listens to residents and responds to special needs, reports appropriate to other staff members necessary issues.

· Assist and participates in annual budgeting process and is accountable to budget on a monthly basis.

· Helps out in other areas when necessary, requested. Provide support and back up to Marketing Department as needed.

· Attends and participates in staff meetings, in-services, projects or committees as assigned.

· Performs other duties as required or as assigned by the Administrator/or designee.

Qualification Required

Previous experience as an Activity Director is desirable.

Must carry level of driving licensing required to drive community vehicle.

Experience in providing services to the geriatric population.

Must line and enjoy working with elderly and disabled persons.

Flexibility with work schedule, with a commitment to doing whatever needed to meet the needs of the community.

Possess a high degree of interpersonal skills with the capability of relating to a variety of people and personalities.

Must be a cooperative team member with a commitment to achieve shared goals of the company and the community.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $52,000.00 per year
