Adult Day Program - Activity Instructor:
The role of the Activity Instructor is to work directly with the consumer and provide appropriate guidance which includes using naturalistic teaching and prompting strategies to teach and guide the consumer to finish the task on hand.
Essential Job Duties:

  • Direct supervision of consumers in activities in a small group setting.
  • Monitors and teaches individuals in their self-help skills, social skills, independent living skills and community skills as written in their ISP.
  • Reflects agency policy in all interactions with individuals. Has positive/caring behavior in interactions with individuals and staff.
  • Attendance and participation at team meetings and in-services. These may be held at times other than regularly scheduled hours.
  • Performs tasks as assigned and models good skills and routines.
  • Responsible for documentation of client’s progress toward the ISP goals, daily documentation.
  • If using company vehicles, a California Driver’s License with a good driving record is required along with following all guidelines regarding the use of agency vehicles and transporting clients.
  • Performs any assistance to individuals that may need help with self-care, including hygiene, incontinence care, etc.
  • Must complete a minimum of eight hours of training per year.

Qualification

  • High School diploma or GED required;
  • Must have strong leadership abilities and be able to set limits and follow adult program guidelines.
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with other staff and have a positive manner of interaction with individuals served.
  • Shall be in good health and shall be physically, mentally, and occupationally capable of performing assigned tasks. Good physical health shall be verified by health screening, including a test for tuberculosis performed by or under the supervision of a physician not more than one year prior to or seven days after employment or licensure.
  • Must be able to lift to 25 lbs. and/or demonstrate the ability to assist other individuals with physical disabilities in evacuations/drills, etc.

Desirable Qualification (Not required):

  • Prior experience providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • Working knowledge and experience documenting and utilizing electronic health records systems (EHR)
  • Certified as a Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT)
  • Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply.

Compensation: $18-21/hour (DOE/E)
