Voices of Hope (VOH) is looking for a full time Recovery Coach who will be located in Madison County to provide recovery support services in identified criminal justice and behavioral health settings serving as a motivator, recovery resource broker, mentor, and liaison to people with opioid use disorder and their families. This position will be working on the HEAL grant and directly with the HEAL team but will report to Voices of Hope in Lexington, KY.

The ideal person will be enthusiastic, extremely well organized and passionate in working closely with people in recovery. They should be passionate advocates for reducing overdose deaths by helping people with linkage to retention on medications for opioid use disorder.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Provide recovery coaching to people using medication for opioid use disorder, with a focus on linkage to MOUD and retention in care.
  • Maintain project logs, reports and records.
  • Travel to develop relationships within facilities throughout the state.
  • Provide recovery education to participants for every phase of the recovery journey from recovery initiation, recovery stabilization, and sustained recovery maintenance.
  • Provide a model for both people in recovery and staff by demonstrating that recovery is possible.
  • Assist recovering persons to identify their personal interests, goals, strengths and weaknesses regarding recovery.
  • Actively identify and support linkages to community resources (communities of recovery, educational, vocational, social, cultural, spiritual resources, mutual self-help groups, professional services, etc.) that support the recovering person’s goals and interests. This will involve a collaborative effort including the recovering person, agency staff and other relevant stakeholders; some of which could be facilities that restrict male interactions.
  • Identify barriers (internal and external) to full participation in community resources and developing strategies to overcome those barriers.
  • Connect participants to a larger community of care.
  • Educate and assist family members.
  • Promote the message and services of VOH.
  • Other duties as directed by Operations Manager and/or other management staff.

Qualifications:

  • Experience with the addiction recovery process.
  • Understanding of medication for opioid use disorder.
  • Familiarity with local support services, resources and recovery community.
  • Capability of building an effective coach-recoveree relationship.
  • Demonstrated skill in actively listening, asking good questions, awareness of self and treating people as resources.
  • Understanding of and ability to maintain appropriate boundaries.
  • Cross-cultural skills, and experience with culturally diverse populations.
  • Bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Experience with MOUD (e.g, methadone or buprenorphine) as part of your own pathway of recovery is a plus
  • Strong customer service ethic essential.
  • Certificate of completion of the CCAR Recovery Coach Academy©. (VOH to provide training).
  • Certificate of completion of the SMART Family and Friends training. (VOH to provide training).
  • Certificate as a Kentucky Certified Peer Support Specialist (VOH to provide training); being currently certified is a plus.

  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Reliable transportation required.
  • Ability to work within a variety of settings.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule including evening and weekend hours.
