Job Description Summary
Candidates should be passionate educators and practitioners who can facilitate the needs of diverse 21st century learners.

The successful candidate must have some college-level teaching experience, a high level of computer literacy, and a commitment to teaching at a community college. Candidates should demonstrate (1) a mastery of their specific discipline; (2) a deep commitment to the college mission of fostering student success, achievement and persistence; (3) technology competencies as well as teaching/counseling skills and strategies that facilitate 21st century literacies; (4) the use of resources that prepare students for productive lives.

The instructor plans, organizes and teaches non-credit programs in specific discipline. Courses must include essential workplace competencies, leading to student success in the workplace. Candidate communicates with students via Broward College’s Learning Management System.

Prepares and provides course syllabi and instructional materials to students which tie to prescribed learning outcomes that promote professional growth and skill attainment.

Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree required or equivalent experience in established professional discipline/area of study.
Minimum Experience/Training:
  • Three years of experience teaching adult learners and developing training materials.
  • Professional to teach Middle and High school academic and career exploration courses.
  • Teaching experience in a collegiate and/or adult education setting.
  • Drafting and Design Professional to teach Revit and Auto CAD courses.
  • Teaching courses using D2L a plus.
Minimum Certification/Licenses:
  • Autodesk Certified Professional certification.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a high level of computer literacy including a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Excellent interpersonal, analytical, evaluative, and critical thinking skills.
  • Clarity and creativity in both professional work and teaching methodology.
  • Ability to teach a variety of continuing education courses with diverse learners.
  • Ability to convey ideas in a clear and articulate manner.
  • Ability to empathically relate to a wide range of student perspectives.
  • Ability to teach online courses.
  • Ability to develop and implement diverse teaching and learning for different learning styles.
