This is a Full-time Temporary position that will last up to 6 months.

We have an immediate opening for a full-time Administrative Assistant to support our Naval Surface Warfare Command (NSWC) Indian Head Division located in Indian Head, MD (Stump Neck).

Responsibilities:

  • · Perform word processing, spreadsheet development, documenting management issues, financial analysis, data collection, report processing, brief preparation, ability to read milestone schedules and send and receive emails.
  • · Reviews, as appropriate, outgoing correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc., prepared for the signature, or concurrence, of the senior managers, to assure the material has been proofread for grammatical and punctuation correctness, is complete, and conforms to the format, style and appearance required by the office or division procedures.
  • · Maintains the appointment calendars for the Division Director in the division and advises them of appointments, meetings, etc., and maintains the division calendar.
  • · Prepares letters, memoranda, reports, and staff papers which may be of a highly technical nature in final form from rough drafts.
  • · Manages systems for handling controlled correspondence and action items. Recommends changes to procedures for divisional correspondence systems to better facilitate the inward and outward flow of correspondence.
  • · Receives incoming telephone calls and visitors to the division office. Determines the identity of the caller, nature of the call or visit, and priority in which the calls/visits should be handled by senior managers. Identifies which calls/visits should be referred elsewhere.
  • · Coordinates with other administrative assistants within the Department to assure adequate administrative coverage.
  • · Coordinates the submission of travel requests through the Defense Travel System (DTS) within the division

Qualifications:

  • Two (2) or more years’ experience supporting the roles/responsibilities outlined in this position
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Proficient with the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and Microsoft SharePoint

Other Requirements

  • An active DoD Secret Security Clearance is required to start. A Secret Clearance will be required. Applicant selected may be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.

· RMC employees may be subject to COVID-19 vaccination or testing requirements in order to access government facilities.
