What You Will Do as an Admissions Director

As an Admissions Director, you will be responsible for managing and directing the admissions process and the marketing program. You will facilitate a positive relationship with hospitals, doctors’ offices, nursing homes, and other related health care providers. Some of your primary responsibilities include:

  • Managing the inquiry process and responding to referrers/referrals, ensuring an immediate transparent response, within one hour
  • Handling inquiry calls from hospitals, families, etc., and providing appointments that include presentation, tour, and closing.
  • Creating clear communications with facility and clinical team on upcoming admissions and assisting in facilitating equipment, special needs, and supplies prior to admission
  • Maintaining census goals, updated bed availability and facility services information by working with the center’s interdisciplinary team
  • Making sales calls outside the center to medical, insurance, legal, and financial professionals, senior organizations, appropriate special interest groups, hospital discharge planners, and other community contacts
  • Ensuring that all paperwork is properly completed, signed, and distributed to appropriate individuals
  • Meeting with family and patient on day of admission and ensuring appropriate preparation of room and introduction to nursing team
  • Maintaining reports on all inquiries (pending/lost), admissions, and discharges
  • Developing and maintaining referral base and nurturing referral relationships

Education, Licensure & Certification Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year admissions experience in a health care setting
  • Minimum of two (2) years college education in the field of health care administration, business management, marketing, nursing, or public relations preferred
