Job summary:

Our ideal candidate will be located in commutable distance to our Montpelier, VT or Addison, TX campus. We will consider remote applicants with exceptional qualifications and the flexibility to have a hybrid presence on either campus.

The Advanced Markets Attorney position will help drive life and annuity sales by working with National life Group’s insurance agents and registered representatives in their work with high net-worth and business owner clients. To support this effort, you will be required to provide advanced markets case support and education to agents in both the affiliated and independent distribution channels. You will also create marketing materials for agent use on advanced markets strategies and concepts including, estate planning, charitable planning, business succession planning, executive compensation planning, qualified planning and premium financing.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Work directly with agents and apply advanced markets solutions to individual client needs as it related to estate planning, tax planning, retirement planning, business planning and charitable planning.
  • Identify, research and develop advanced market strategies and concepts by leveraging industry meetings, subject matter experts, industry journals, trade publications, tax rulings and legislation.
  • Present advanced marketing concepts and strategies to agents and NLG internal partners.
  • Ensure that advanced marketing materials and advanced marketing programs are following all applicable federal and state laws.
  • Author articles on advanced marketing concepts.
  • Consult with internal partners on product/ rider designs as well as sales concepts.
  • Travel as needed to present in the field and attend industry meetings.

Job Requirements

  • JD required from an accredited law school and admitted to the Bar in at least one state
  • 3-7 years of Advanced Markets experience
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in Advanced Markets, including taxation, estate, retirement, and business planning expertise
  • Strong writing, communication and presentation skills
  • Understanding of Life Insurance and Annuities
  • Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex advanced markets concepts in simple, easy to understand terms
  • Demonstrated proficiency in case design, sales skills and cross-selling skills with agents.
  • Understanding of how life insurance and annuity products work to complete the implementation of advanced markets concepts
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check
The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.
