Caring Places Management is actively recruiting an empathetic, qualified individual to join our Assisted Living & Memory Care community, Heritage House, as a Medication Aide. As part of our team, you work with seniors requiring assistance and their families to determine their individual needs and requirements. Why work for Caring Places Management? Medication Aides will enhance the care and life quality for each resident by:
  • Understanding and providing services outlined in the Service Plan for each resident;
  • Listening to, and communicating with, each resident in a sensitive manner;
  • Being aware of the emotional/behavioral/mental conditions/needs of each resident and respond in a gentle, reassuring way;
  • Providing personal care as appropriate while striving to promote self-care, independence and dignity, and preserving privacy;
  • Working as part of a team in meeting resident needs;
  • Other activities as assigned.
Medication Aides will protect the safety and health of each resident by:
  • Assuring the safety of each resident by knowing what to do in any emergency situation by being aware of the needs of each resident, and by knowing the physical environment of our facility;
  • Receiving emergency protocol training;
  • Dispensing medication according to physician’s orders and under the auspices of the RN;
  • Performing treatments according to physician and RN directions;
  • Following documentation requirements of State regulations, the RN and the facility;
  • Documenting observed changes in condition, interventions/programs used and observed results, and any unusual occurrence in each resident’s daily routine;
  • Communicating observed changes in the physical condition of the resident to the supervising RN, LPN, Resident Care Coordinator, physician, and family members when appropriate;
  • Communicating with family members and visitors as directed by the Administrator with care to protect the privacy of each resident;
  • Communicating in a comprehensive and positive manner to other employees at shift change to assure continuity of program and care;
  • Intervening and/or redirecting when appropriate to insure the safety and well-being of all residents;
  • Using good body mechanics when transferring residents and when lifting/moving other objects to avoid injury;
  • Promptly reporting any injuries/incidents that occur in accordance with facility protocol;
  • Assisting in keeping the facility in compliance with State regulations by following all protocol of delegations tasks at all times;
  • Other activities as assigned.
Medication Aides will assist in providing a pleasant, comfortable environment for residents by:
  • Helping to maintain a safe, organized, clean and efficient workplace;
  • Striving to keep our facility calm and positive by using good communication skills, including the use of simple, reassuring terms and a calming tone of voice when speaking;
  • Maintaining a team approach to the correct and efficient completion of all shift tasks, assisting in these tasks when necessary;
  • Other activities as assigned.
Medication Aides will continually improve their skills to better serve residents by:
  • Completing continuing education as required;
  • Attending all Medication Aide meetings under the direction of the RN;
  • Attending staff/training meetings;
  • Keeping all certifications current, including CPR and First Aid;
  • Other activities as assigned.
Medication Aides will honor each resident, at all times, by abiding by the Resident Bill of Rights. Requirements:

Requirements and Qualifications:

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • At least one year of experience, ideally in an assisted living, memory care, or elderly care setting, preferred
  • BLS certification, preferred

Schedule:

  • Day Shift
  • Evening Shift
  • Overnight Shift
  • Full Time or Part Time
  • Wage is $20 with no experience/certifications. Paid training provided.
  • HCA's start at $22.50
  • CNA's start at $24
