Northwest Center is hiring for a Banana Stand Supervisor to join the team!

This unique Supervisor role assumes responsibility of the Amazon Community Banana Stands and assists in overseeing daily operations of the banana program in the Puget Sound region and any special events requiring their support. Banana Stands are located throughout the Amazon Campus in South Lake Union, you will be responsible for supporting staff in several locations, making sure staff are onsite and prepared for operations at scheduled start times.

The Supervisor will also be crossed trained in supporting and backing up the Events Supervisor as needed. Amazon is a fast-paced demanding corporate environment and we are committed to providing professional 5-star customer service with every interaction. The primary customer base includes visitors, community members, vendor partners, and all guests and employees of Amazon.

Location: Seattle - South Lake Union
Hourly Wage: $30.17 - $34.10 | Full Range: $30.17 - 38.02
Schedule: Mon - Fri - 6:30AM - 3PM (Occasional Nights/Weekends as needed)

Key Responsibilities/ Essential Functions

  • Provide management, day-to-day direction, and leadership to the entire banana stand team, including temporary workers.
  • Communicating employee call outs to leadership and willing to provide coverage as needed.
  • Conduct Daily visits to stands/bikes/trailers to support staff and ensure operations are running smoothly.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends as required by upcoming events and organizational deadlines.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels within the banana stands and the banana bike, and making sure staff are onsite and prepared for operations at scheduled start times.
  • Ensure program service level agreements and operation standards are met or exceeded, inclusive of staffing levels, email response times, and overall customer satisfaction.
  • Plan and develop employee work schedules, coordinating break coverage ensuring the best use of resources.
  • Lead and participate in additional project related work, delegating as needed.
  • Become the subject matter expert of all banana program operations including, but not limited to, security access levels, facility procedures, vendor points of contact, and any escalation processes.
  • Support the events program as needed, and will act as back up in the case the Event Supervisor is out.
  • Learn and maintain strong working knowledge of company products and services, and offer technical support and information to team members

People
  • Responsible for employee development through the development of individualized goals and the creation of training plans to ensure that employees achieve the established goals.
  • Responsible for training new Banistas in all administrative support and customer support expectations, and procedures within the banana program.
  • Responsible for staff performance ensuring that all procedures, processes and policies are understood and followed. Following up with corrective employee conversations as necessary related to employee performance, including additional leadership as necessary.
  • Assist management in interviewing, hiring, and termination discussions.
  • Contributes to a positive work environment that encourages retention and talent.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization with different job levels and departments.
  • Foster a spirit of teamwork and unity among team members that allows for disagreement over ideas, conflict, and expeditious conflict resolution.

Customer Experience
  • Act as liaison between Northwest Center, Amazon, and other Vendors ensure continuity across campus locations.
  • Provide elevated customer support for visitors, community members, vendor partners, and all guests visiting the banana trailers, stands, or bikes.
  • Handle escalated situations with visitors, community members, vendor partners, and all guests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and overall visual presence of the trailers/stands/bikes, ensuring it is cleaned, organized, and stocked as necessary.
  • Attend regular team meetings to discuss updates, concerns, and ideas with leadership.

Needed Experience and Requirements

Education
  • Associates degree equivalent combination of education and experience required, Bachelor's degree preferred.

Experience
  • Minimum 2+ years of increasing responsibility in position, and oversight of projects or other team members with proven experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum of 1+ years in program-specific or relatable work environment.
  • Moderate computer skills in MS Office, Advanced skills preferred.
  • Experience in Event or Management systems.
  • 6 months experience with NWC@Amazon role preferred.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand and/or sit outdoors in all weather conditions above 35 degrees Fahrenheit for 2 to 4 hours at a time and up to 8 hours for the day
  • Must be able to handle bananas and/or various food products without allergic reaction
  • Potential to work in conditions below 40 degrees for up 3 hours
  • Must be able to lift bananas and stack boxes up to 50 lbs. repeatedly
  • Ability to move consistently within a 1.5 radius is required
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the business, including occasionally arriving early, staying late on a moment’s notice and occasional evening and weekend shifts
  • This is a dog friendly environment with over 1000 dogs on campus. Individuals with dog allergies or those who do not particularly care for dogs may not be the best fit
