This position is primarily responsible for managing the tracking of and fulfilment of contractual obligations under Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), as well as analyzing and reporting the financial results of the energy management and power operations activities for a portfolio of power plants and power contracts.
What You'll Do at Enel::- Demonstrate knowledge of the renewable energy industry and the North American power markets.
- General understanding of energy commodity markets and regional power system operators (e.g. PJM, ERCOT, NYISO, SPP, MISO, ISO-NE, AESO, etc.).
- Act as first point of contact for interpretation of terms and commitments under the Power Purchase Agreements.
- Perform PPA contract administration by tracking, reporting and ensuring the fulfilment of contractual obligations such as output and availability targets, financial security terms, scheduling and forecasting requirements. This includes regular interaction and coordination with a variety of groups within the organization.
- Execute monthly/quarterly Renewable Energy Certificate (RECs) transfers and oversee invoicing to counterparties, as well as execution of merchant REC transfers all within applicable tracking systems specific to each power plant.
- Reconcile RECs with unit/power plant generation, identify and resolve descrepancies within the appropriate ISO/RTO and REC tracking systems. Follow dispute resolution process to timely true up any discrepancies.
- Conduct generation check-outs with offtakers and internal Operations and Maintenance teams. Identify variances and faciliate resolution/agreement among all applicable parties.
- Calculate a variety of settlements under physical and financial PPAs. Understand the various rate structures including, but not limited to: fixed rates, index or escalating based rates, market rates, swaps, etc.
- Perform analytical research to determine cause of settlement discrepancies resulting from generation or pricing.
- Coordinate with counterparties to proactively and timely resolve invoice reconciliation discrepancies.
- Reconcile ISO/RTO statements to estimates and ensure all costs correctly allocated to the proper assets. Identify and shadow settle revenue, charges and costs billed through ISO statements. Understand and follow dispute resolution and resettlement calendars specific to each ISO/RTO.
- Partner with Accounting, Finance and Control unit to invoice counterparties and reconcile settlement statements.
- Respond to inquiries and provide regional, technical and administrative support.
- May become actively involved in projects to meet schedules and resolve problems.
- Support the Energy Management Purchasing process.
- Responsible to work on problems of diverse scope, that requires analysis of data and evaluation of identifiable market factors.
- Provide monthly and annual plant financial performance reporting.
- Provide support for projects, market compliance, compliance/regulatory filings, etc.
- Stay current on national and local market drivers for energy and Renewable Energy Credits
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in energy market settlements.
