Summary:
Functions as a health care provider in an inpatient and outpatient setting providing evidence based care, including but not limited to, diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative health care under the general supervision of a physician.
Detailed responsibilities:
  • Practices within a multi-disciplinary healthcare team providing diagnostic, therapeutic and preventative healthcare management by performing a variety of medical or procedural tasks.
  • Obtains complete medical history from patients and performs comprehensive and focused physical examinations appropriate for patient population.
  • Organizes and presents historical and physical data on daily rounds, together with evaluations and recommendations, to the healthcare team in such way as to permit him/her to clearly identify a medical problem and determine appropriate diagnostic or therapeutic procedures.
  • Executes diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as indicated.
  • Provides follow-up and health maintenance care to patients based upon accepted standards of care and best practice.
  • Instructs and counsels patients with respect to health promotion and/or health maintenance.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records of contacts with patients whether in person, virtually or by telephone.

The hospital is currently undergoing a 4-story vertical expansion to double the number of floors and to continue to meet its commitment to providing the highest quality and safest care for children in the region.

JDCH also has robust Neurosciences, Hematology/Oncology and other specialized surgical programs (approximately 10,000 surgeries per year). They also have the area’s largest pediatric and neonatal transport team, which also does mobile ECMO. JDCH serves over 375,000 children per year from around the state. Approximately 100,000 children are cared for in our 3 emergency rooms across the county per year. JDCH’s services continue to grow with the opening of the new specialty center/ambulatory surgery center in Palm Beach County in 2018 and a new ambulatory pavilion in Miramar, near Miami-Dade County which will open in 2021.
