YOUR DUTIES AT A GLANCE:
In this position you will receive referrals and determine the need for and investigates alleged incidents of adult abuse or neglect. Situations may involve physical abuse, neglect and abandonment, sexual abuse, psychological and verbal abuse, financial exploitation, and other types of self-neglect.
WORKING CONDITIONS
May be subjected to verbal abuse and assaultive threats made by angry and hostile individuals. Occasional subpoenas and court requirements on short notice. This is a flexible work schedule position with a normal workday of 8 hours. Must be able to drive to and meet individuals in their own homes, other community settings, nursing homes, hospitals or other care settings. Requires some out of town or overnight travel for training and cases. In rural areas this may be a daily requirement, and in remote areas there may not be cell phone service. May involve driving in inclement conditions. Potential exposure to illness and disease through direct contact with clients. May be exposed to unsanitary conditions. Work closely with individuals who may have difficulty receiving, processing or verbalizing information necessary to make informed choices or decisions.
WHAT YOU NEED TO QUALIFY/MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (MQ’s):
  • A Bachelor's Degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences AND
  • two years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience.
OR
  • An Associate Degree in the human, social, behavioral or criminal sciences AND
  • four years human service, law enforcement or investigative experience.
OR
  • Three years professional level experience related to the position may substitute for the bachelor's degree;
  • 18 months professional level experience related to the position may substitute for the for an Associates.
ESSENTIAL ATTRIBUTES (EA):
  • Experience communicating and problem solving in a complex situation to reach an agreed upon resolution.
  • Experience interpreting and explaining rules and/or regulations.
  • Experiencing interviewing people to gather information.
  • Experience working with difficult clients and/or customers in challenging situations.
  • Experience in report writing and caseload management.

  • Under the Oregon Health Authority's health care rules, COVID-19 vaccinations are required for employees in specified job classifications for the Aging and People with Disabilities program. This includes Adult Protective Service Worker, Human Service Case Manager, Human services Assistant 2, Pre-admissions screening specialist, Client Care Surveyor, and Compliance Specialist 2 which is our Adult Foster Home Licensor. Employees will need to complete their COVID-19 vaccination series or have an approved exception to the requirement due to a medical condition or sincerely held religious belief. Successful candidates for this position must submit vaccination documentation or be approved for an exception prior to their first day of employment. Failure to provide proof of full documentation or receipt of an approved exception will lead to withdrawal of the job offer.
