The Aerospace Assembler will perform a series of basic and some moderately complex operations using a variety of hand tools, power tools, fixtures, work instructions and test equipment to properly assemble sheet metal aircraft components. Inspect completed work for conformance to Production Planning, verbal and written instructions, sketches and specifications.

Essential Functions

Uses hand and power tools, scribe, grind, punch, deburr, fit, and drill a variety of sheet metal detail parts, sub-assemblies or complete units by adjusting alignment and mating pieces to ordinary tolerances.
May perform sizing, riveting, reaming, spotwelding, seamwelding, poke tacking and braze preparation.
Detects and provides input for resolution to faulty operations.
May prepare and develop schedules on spotwelding, seamwelding, riveting and fastener installation.
May do TIG-tacking for assembly purposes.
Performs repairs on small dents and scratches.
Maintains thorough understanding of how the work being done produces a quality part.
Maintains clean, organized work area to facilitate manufacturing functions.
Checks for prescribed dimensions in jigs, fixtures or with calipers, micrometers, height gages and other inspection devices.
Follows and accurately interpret written instructions, drawings, planning, sketches and best practice worksheets.
Performs all work in accordance with established standards and safety procedures.
Ensures proper documentation is entered in manufacturing planning (including correct quantities) and paperless timecard system.
May train others on prior job experience.
Knows when to stop and finds appropriate interpretation when necessary.
Regular and acceptable punctuality and attendance.
Required Experience
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Work under limited oversight.
Able to read and understand manufacturing planning, engineering blueprints and sketches.
Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T). Knows where to find this information at Exotic, and asks for help when necessary.
Must be able to use mathematics relevant to functions.
Requires familiarity with machine tools, precision instruments and good manual dexterity.
Requires the ability to follow demonstrated steps.
Working understanding of how product flows in and out of the work area and its impact.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment. Work is performed near moving mechanical parts and team member will have exposure to loud noises from operating equipment. The team member is required to wear company-provided personal protective equipment at all times while on the manufacturing floor.

Physical Requirements

Moderate to heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.

Must have manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.
Must be able to see details at close range.
Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by climbing, balancing, lifting, walking, stooping, and carrying materials.
Visual acuity to read instructions, operate machines, and inspect parts produced.
Ability to frequently stoop, bend and kneel.
Ability to often reach with hand and arms and grasp.
Ability to frequently talk and hear.
Ability to constantly stand.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $17.00 - $19.00 per hour
