Assembly Technician II

DetectionTek LLC, requires a Production Technician II to perform alignment, calibration and troubleshooting of fluorescent cytometer instruments designed to detect molds, fungi, pollen, and viruses for the air quality industry.

While reporting directly to the Production Lead, the Assembly Technician II will interface with other functions such as Science, Engineering, Quality, Inventory and Purchasing. The position will also work with other members of the production team and maintain a level of productivity that supports the delivery schedule.

The position will enhance and support the production team with electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.

TECHNICAL ASSEMBLER

DetectionTek is looking to hire multiple new technicians to join a growing production crew. Under limited supervision this hourly position will report to the Production Manager. We are seeking a professional, reliable/dependable, and hardworking addition to our Production team. The assembler will ensure the accurate completion of assemblies for shipment to customers. Successful candidates will be team players, with an understanding of the importance of quality, safety, and urgency.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Use of hand tools and mechanical fixturing for mechanical assembly. Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Constructs product by fabricating parts; assembling circuits, components, and parts; operating bench lathes, drills, and related machine tools.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Assemble and test optical systems in accordance with delivery schedules
  • Verifies system performance by testing functioning of installed equipment.
  • Ensure that products meet quality standards, perform intended functions, and are shipped according to customer expectations in a satisfactory manner.
  • Use logical troubleshooting techniques to repair instruments, assemblies, and subassemblies.
  • Troubleshoot harness and PCB assemblies.
  • Maintain quality documents to ensure process flow and control.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Assist in resolving production failures or product issues.
  • Assist with inspection of incoming components and identify non-conforming materials.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; works with Purchasing in placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Assist in the development of the Production Technician position and its roll within the production process.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Other duties as prescribed

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Able to read and follow written, graphic and pictorial procedures
  • Must be able to read analog and digital circuit schematic diagrams
  • Must be able to read wire harness circuit schematic diagrams
  • Must be able to read mechanical drawings
  • Able to utilize multimeters and oscilloscopes for the purpose of alignment and troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting skills are required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds, on occasion.
  • Ability to stand, kneel, stoop, squat; in addition to use arms, hands, and fingers to inspect objects, tools, and controls
  • Ability to perform visual and dimensional inspections upon completion of certain assembly process steps, as well as on incoming component parts
  • This position will work 7:30AM to 4:30PM, full time, Monday through Friday
  • Ability to work in the U.S. without sponsorship now and in the future.
  • No relocation is offered for this role. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the

Gunbarrel, CO facility. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

  • Manufacturing assembly experience

Required Job Skills:

  • Competency with metrology equipment including calipers, micrometers and drop gauges
  • Ability to read drawings, specifications, and work instructions to determine method and sequence of assembly
  • Mathematical skills including use of basic math and geometry
  • Competency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work and interact within a team structure as well as independently.
  • Efficient, and highly organized with great attention to detail and cleanliness.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities to meet deadlines.

Other Qualifications (Nice to Have but not Required):

  • Electronics Assembly or Electronic Technician experience
  • Optical Assembly or Optical Technician experience
  • IPC-/WHMA-A-620 Certifications or Experience

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • High School education minimum, technical degree preferred.
  • 1-2 years of experience or training in a similar or relevant position
  • Four years of related experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred
