Description:

Reporting to the Product Management Leader, the Asset Specialist will support optimizing and upgrading the US polypropylene product portfolio. Critical activities include supporting product trials, overseeing processes that drive product portfolio improvements and maintaining key asset profitability metrics. This individual will work in close coordination with the Product Management, Sales, Manufacturing, Innovation & Technology (I&T) and Supply Chain organizations to manage the US polypropylene asset portfolios

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Lead or support trials associated with the asset strategy, serving as a technical liaison between the Product Management Leader and the Sales, I&T, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain organizations for new product trials.
  • Lead coordination efforts between US domestic Sales, Product Management, Manufacturing and Supply Chain to optimize the profitability of each asset, focusing on 3+-month time horizon. Evaluate new and current business opportunities to optimize profitability and contribute key inputs to the income projection process for 3+ month timeframe.
  • Lead freight cost optimization efforts working with the domestic Logistics and Supply Chain teams to analyze existing and potential freight costs by product and asset while considering all critical trade-offs.
  • Lead and coordinate shared activities between Commercial, Product Management, and Manufacturing that drive process improvements in product quality.
  • Lead or support the pipeline process for product development and product enhancements (IPAC) with a focus on continuous optimization of the US portfolio including evaluation of domestic asset profitability along short- and long-term time horizons
  • Develop, analyze, and maintain asset-product profitability metrics (including product quadrants, asset opportunity contribution margin, breakeven pricing). Serve as subject matter expert on domestic product-asset profitability.
  • Participate in cross-functional teams to support effective domestic supply chain decisions, as well as global supply teams to drive efficient integrated global supply chain decisions.
  • Promote and develop product/asset subject matter expertise. Support and propose process and operations changes that drive improvements in the business results and effectiveness. Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset within area of responsibility.

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Technical Service or Product Development preferred
  • Minimum of 5-8 years total work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field
  • Technical knowledge of polypropylene products, process and manufacturing operations.
  • Strong Microsoft skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) with a focus on communicating complex ideas to various audiences clearly and simply.
  • Strong analytical skills, including knowledge of polyolefin profitability, financial acumen, business case development, scenario planning, and statistics.
  • Progressive experience in commercial/business, technical, and supply chain roles
  • Demonstrated knowledge in portfolio management skills and techniques
  • Strong conceptual capacity to prioritize and understand impacts of commercial decisions and strategies
  • Strength in negotiating and persuading team members and leaders to avert conflict, increase productivity, and drive shared ownership of results.
  • Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal skills and relationship.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and conceptualize business and organizational goals and challenge the status quo to drive changes required to achieve these goals.
  • Strong critical judgement and independent decision-making
