The Assistant Director of Behavior Support Services is responsible for assisting the Director of Behavior Support Services with the day- to- day operations and the clinical and administrative supervision of the Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) team. The Assistant Director of Behavior Support Services must be familiar with OPWDD and OMH regulations.

  • Assist Director in providing oversight to BIS staff and department who work for the ICF, IRA, and OMH programming – oversight includes, but is not limited to, behavior plans, data collection documentation, human rights processes, etc.
  • Act as committee member on special meetings, including IRC, Human Right’s, and other meetings as assigned
  • Provide clinical and administrative trainings to direct reports, management and DSP staff on an ongoing basis to include mentoring in the development of behavior modification and behavior intervention plans.
  • Facilitate educational and therapeutic groups for residents
  • Ensure the programs are in compliance in accordance with State and Federal guidelines with regard to behavioral needs.
  • Participate in formal supervision with BIS staff on a regular basis to ensure proper clinical care and administrative oversight.
  • Assist with completing staff performance evaluations annually and on an as needed basis.
  • Participate in client case conferences both at the residential and day programs as needed.
  • Review and approve non-restrictive client treatment and behavior plans.
  • Implement a chart review/audit system to ensure regular review of resident behavioral charts.
  • Develop relationships with clients and families and be the liaison for dispute mediation.
  • Will be on call to respond to crisis calls during evening, overnight and weekend hours.
  • Cover BIS should a vacancy exist in the department.
  • Participate in client intake meetings to determine appropriateness of potential clients in the residential programs.
  • Intervene as needed in all programming, Day Habilitation, OMH and OPWDD and especially in crisis situations
  • Other duties as assigned

This is a Full Time, Monday through Friday 8:30am - 4:30am (Flex) position located at our Main Office in Riverhead, NY.*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS*

  • PHD and NYS License in Clinical Psychology or LCSW . Must meet the OPWDD requirement for both QIPD and BIS
  • 5 years’ experience working with MH/IDD population in a clinical capacity
  • Knowledge of OPWDD and OMH regulations related to both QIDP and BIS
  • Strong computer skills are required. The ability to use Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are critical. The knowledge or ability to learn software programs including use of data and trends to inform clinical practice.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License
  • Supervisory experience preferred

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Supervisory experience
  • NYS Licensed in Mental Health Counseling, BCBA, Psychology or related field

Pay: $75,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
