The Office of Student Engagement is part of the Student Development team in the Division of Student Affairs at Alfred State College. It is composed of a dedicated, student-focused group of professionals, creating an environment of student support and development. The Office of Student Engagement oversees the following areas:

Student Union and Events Management
Club & Organizational Support and Development
Greek Life
New Student Orientation & Parent Programming
Recreation & Club Sports
Performing Arts


We provide opportunities for learning, skill development, supportive services, and personal connections that foster successful and balanced life experiences for the students of Alfred State College and our community.


Under the direction of the Director of Student Engagement, the Assistant Director of First Year Engagement (ADFYE) will play an integral role in the leadership of the department, focusing on the development, facilitation, implementation, and evaluation of a comprehensive Orientation Program. Additionally, the ADFYE will help to lead the developmental experience the first year students receive in the Residence Halls on campus.


Responsibilities:

Facilitation of Spring and Fall Orientation programs
Oversight of hiring, training, and management of First Year Orientation Leaders
Facilitation of Week of Welcome
Co-Chair First Year Residential Engagement Committee
Oversight of First Year Residential Engagement Programmers
Parent and Family support, communication, and programming

Supervision:

This position directly oversees the supervision of:

12-16 Orientation Leaders over the summer
6 First Year Programmers throughout the Academic Year

Job Requirements:


This is a full-time, 12 month position. Masters' Degree in College Student Personnel, Higher Education Administration, Counseling in Education or related field is required. Experience in the following is critical to the position: prior Student Activities experience; skills in program development, leadership training, late night event programming and multicultural issues; experience with advising students and student organizations;
