Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON)

SIGN ON BONUS: $7,500

SHIFT: Full-Time, Days, Weekend availability

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Assistant Director of Nursing is under the supervision of the Administrator and has authority, responsibility, and accountability for the overall management of residents on a designated secured unit on a twenty-four-hour basis. The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for directing, coordinating, and supervising the activities of all specialized training of nursing staff engaged in specific nursing practices. The Assistant Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall management of resident care 24 hours a day, seven (7) days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Assistant the Director of Nursing in planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and directing the day-to-day functions of the nursing department in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines
• Participate in developing, maintaining, and updating our written policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day functions of the department
• Act as a team member, team leader, and supervisor to ensure work is accomplished, and quality care is delivered
• Support team members and leaders in a way that celebrates and encourages hard work and success
• Ensure that all nursing personnel are following their respective job descriptions
• Perform administrative duties such as completing medical forms, reports, evaluations, studies, charting, etc.
• Help determine staffing needs
• Provide direct nursing care as necessary
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum of one-year experience in nursing service administration required
• Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse in the state of New York required
• Education or experience in long-term care or geriatric nursing is preferred
• Must be able to demonstrate age-specific knowledge of developmental factors for adult and geriatric residents
• Demonstrate effective communication skills, problem-solving, and conflict resolution
• Must be flexible, punctual, professional, and reliable
• Strong customer service skills and compassion
